Understanding Shopify's app approval and usage limit for Pop Convert

When you install Pop Convert from the Shopify App Store, you’ll be asked to approve billing through Shopify.

Shopify's app approval page

When approving the Pop Convert app, you may see a message that says:
"You've approved an app with a usage limit of $999.00 USD every 30 days."
🛑 This does not mean you will be charged $999. It’s simply a Shopify system limit that applies to many apps using usage-based billing.
This capped amount is the maximum Shopify allows an app to charge within a 30-day billing cycle, helping prevent unexpected or excessive charges.

How Pop Convert billing works

All new users start on a 7-day free trial of the Growth Plan.
After the trial, pricing starts at $29/month, depending on your monthly unique visitor count.
You’ll always see the current charges and plan inside the Pop Convert app.
After your trial, you can switch to the Free Plan at any time if needed.

So, while the usage limit is $999, most merchants are billed far below this cap.

Why the $999 limit appears

This is a Shopify default cap for all apps using “usage-based billing.” It allows apps like Pop Convert to charge varying amounts based on real usage (e.g., unique visitors), while giving you visibility and control over maximum possible charges.

You can think of it like setting a credit limit — but it doesn’t mean you’ll ever actually hit it.

What happens if you exceed the limit?

If your store’s usage ever approaches the $999 limit (very rare), Shopify may ask you to approve a new usage cap. Without that approval, charges can’t continue, and your Pop Convert features might pause temporarily.

You can always review and adjust app permissions in your Shopify admin under Settings > Apps and Sales Channels > Pop Convert > Billing and usage charges.
