What is Social Proof?


Social Proof is a powerful marketing tool that displays real-time notifications on your store, showing what other customers are buying or adding to their cart. It creates a sense of urgency and trust, motivating potential buyers to make a purchase.

Shoppers feel more confident buying from your store when they see others making purchases.
Real-time activity creates a sense of urgency, pushing customers to take the leap and complete their own purchases.
Highlighting other customers’ actions helps influence buying decisions.

Types of Social Proof Popups


Add to Cart
Displays a notification whenever a product is added to a customer’s cart. It gives a subtle nudge to other shoppers, showing them that your products are in demand.
Placed Order
Shows a real-time notification when someone completes an order. This reassures visitors that others are actively shopping, building confidence in your store’s reliability.
Recent Visitors
Highlights visitors who have accessed your store within the last 24 hours, indicating recent interest in your products. This creates a sense of activity and urgency, encouraging new visitors to explore further.
Live Visitors
Displays a notification of how many people are currently on your site within the last hour. This real-time information enhances the feeling of a bustling store, motivating potential customers to make a purchase while others are also shopping.
Products in Cart
Displays popups for specific products that have recently been added to a customer’s cart. This creates a sense of demand and interest around certain products, encouraging visitors to consider adding them to their own cart.
Ordered Products
Displays popups for specific products that have recently been ordered. This highlights popular or trending items, motivating visitors to purchase products that are actively being bought by others.


How to Set Up Social Proof


Social proof popups

Head over to your Pop Convert Dashboard.
From the sidebar, click on Social Proof.
Pick the type of popup you'd like to enable (Add to Cart, Placed Order, Recent Visitors, Live Visitors, Products in Cart, Ordered Products).
To customize the design and content of your popup, click the Edit Pop button in the upper-right corner.
Once you're happy with the content and design, click Save and enable the popup.
Return to the main Social Proof page to configure global settings for all your popups.

Main popup settings


You can personalize the following elements:
a. Content
Main Content - Use these merge tags to personalize your message: {{ first_name }}, {{ city }}, {{ country }}, {{ province }}, {{ product_title }}, {{ recent_visitor_count }}, {{ live_visitor_count }}, {{ cart_item_count }}, {{ order_item_count }} .
First Name Fallback - Add a fallback name to display if no name is available.
Show Time - Enable or disable the display of the event time.
Custom Icon - Upload a custom SVG icon for your social proof widget by entering the link to the icon in the input box.
b. Styles
Set the background color, text color, border radius, and font for your popup to match your brand.
c. Pages
Specify the pages where you want the popup to appear. Learn more about it here.
d. Themes
Choose from a variety of preset themes tailored for different occasions, provided by Pop Convert.

Global popup settings


You can customize the following settings to optimize how your social proof popup appears:
Popup Position - Adjust the position of the social proof popup on both desktop and mobile devices.
Device Visibility - Choose which devices (desktop, mobile, or both) should display the widget.
Time Settings - Control the timing, including delay before showing, display duration, and intervals between popups.
Widget Size - Select the size of your social proof widget to suit your design preferences.
Logic Settings - Set preferences like whether to repeat popups, display random events, or show the close button.

Events


Social proof events

The Events section allows you to view real-time social proof events, showcasing actions taken by other visitors. Here, you can see a live feed of recent events, such as products added to carts and completed orders. By monitoring these events, you can gain insights into customer behavior and preferences, helping you make informed decisions to enhance your marketing strategies and improve the overall shopping experience.
